How to Get to Creel, Mexico

Creel is the mountain hub for Copper Canyon (Barrancas del Cobre) in Chihuahua, Mexico. There is no commercial airport in town — you fly into Chihuahua or Los Mochis, then continue by road or Chepe Express.

1) Fly to Chihuahua (CUU) — most common for Creel hotel stays

Chihuahua International Airport connects to Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Tijuana and other hubs (check current airlines). From CUU to Creel:

• Private transfer: ~4–5 hours, door-to-door — best if you have luggage or arrive late.
• Bus: usually 5–6 hours, lower cost, fixed schedules.
• Self-drive: mountain roads; allow daylight hours and winter caution.

2) Fly to Los Mochis (LMM) — great with Chepe Express

Los Mochis is the Pacific-side gateway. Many Copper Canyon packages start or end here with Chepe Express tickets included. Road time LMM → Creel is longer (~6–8 hours) if you skip the train — most visitors prefer the scenic rail segment instead.

3) Arrive on the Chepe Express
